Horse Training at
Paradise Stables

At Paradise Stables, owner Elizabeth Winters uses her extensive experience with gaited horses as a training ground for new riders and horse enthusiasts alike.She has hired a number of excellent instructors and had them trained extensively on the gaited horse breed. Christine Shoemaker is our lead trainer and has over 30 years of experience in riding and horse knowledge. Terri Naecker is our Junior trainer and is working hard with our young horses. They both work with show and trail prospects, and re-train horses experiencing problems keeping their gaits and otherwise working to their full potential. Their knowledge, patience, and love of gaited horses make them trainers whom riders come to with a variety of issues.

Tommy Smith, the well-known horse judge and trainer, also works with both students and trainers at Paradise Stables. Tommy gives private riding lessons and horse clinics in all disciplines to boarders and students alike who ride gaited horses, and to those who trailer in.

He also provides a “Train the Trainer” program to our in-house trainers, keeping them up-to-date on the latest techniques, so they can provide the very best training to horses and students.  Like a continuing education program, he helps them hone their skills, so they can pass on the knowledge.

We also encourage boarders to invite their own riding instructors or clinicians to teach at our barn.  We all learn from each other, so we’re always open to new ideas.
